Subject: Kflop USB cable length
I've been looking with great interest at the Kflop but I was wondering how long a USB cable could I get away with? In my application the card would be about 12ft from the computer.

Are there any future plans to make an ethernet version of Kflop?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

12ft should be ok.  I think the USB 2.0 Spec for full speed devices is 5 Meters.  I've used cables over 20ft without problems.  Hubs can also be used to extend the range.  Ground loops might become an issue if your system is spread out very far.

No current plans for an Ethernet version.  We are working on a WiFi version but the data rate will be lower than USB and it is more intended for autonomous/remote control robotics and such rather than CNC.
